Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in a potential cut-price deal next summer, according to Football Insider.
The North London club prioritized bolstering their attack this past summer and had been strongly linked with Eze. However, despite the rumors, Spurs did not make an official move for the talented midfielder before the transfer window closed.
Instead, Tottenham secured the services of Dominic Solanke from AFC Bournemouth in a record-breaking £65 million deal. They also brought in Wilson Odobert from Burnley and added Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig. However, Werner’s future at the club remains uncertain, with his performances suggesting that Spurs may not opt to make the deal permanent, meaning he could return to Germany at the end of the season.
Football Insider now reports that Tottenham is still interested in Eze and could reignite their pursuit of the 26-year-old next summer. However, a move in the upcoming January transfer window appears unlikely.
Tottenham’s Pursuit of Eze
Eze has a £68 million release clause in his contract, which will become active next summer. By that time, he will be entering the final two years of his deal with Crystal Palace, which could give Spurs an opportunity to negotiate a lower fee. Tottenham is reportedly considering making an offer of at least £50 million in 2025 to test Palace’s resolve.
Spurs have been closely monitoring Eze’s performances in recent seasons and view him as a key target to bolster their attacking options. His versatility makes him an attractive prospect for the club, as he is comfortable playing as an attacking midfielder, on the left wing, and even in a box-to-box midfield role when needed.
Eze’s Impact
Eze has been a standout performer for Crystal Palace since joining the club and has firmly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents. His creativity, vision, and technical skills make him a vital player for Palace, and he has also earned recognition on the international stage with England.
He was part of Gareth Southgate’s squad that reached the final of the European Championship this summer, although he primarily featured as a rotational player throughout the tournament.
If Tottenham does decide to make a concrete offer for Eze next year, his addition would undoubtedly strengthen their squad and add further attacking depth. Whether they can secure his services at a reduced price remains to be seen, but Spurs appear ready to test Crystal Palace’s resolve in 2025.
